Water Baptism

What is water baptism?

Water Baptism is a public declaration of our identification with Jesus; His death, burial and resurrection. By being water baptized you are publicly saying that you have died to yourself and

decided to follow Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

Why are we to be baptized?

We are to be baptized because Jesus Christ commanded it (Matthew 28:19). Jesus said, “If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15). (Book of Acts 2:41; 8:12, 38; 9:18; 10:47–48; 16:15, 33; 19:3–5).

Who should be baptized?

All born-again believers in Jesus Christ - and only believers - should be baptized (Mark 16:15–16;

Acts 8:12, 36–38; 16:31–33; 18:8).

Are infants and children to be baptized?

In light of Scripture, infants and children should be dedicated (1 Samuel 1:26-28). Baptism age should

be around preteen / teenage, old enough to truly understand the salvation message and the meaning of baptism.

Who can baptize me?

Any born again believer in Jesus Christ: such as a family member, friend, minister, or pastor.

What should be said by the person baptizing you during baptism?

“I baptize you in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19)

What is the only prerequisite for baptism?

Getting saved / getting born again: accepting Jesus as your Lord and Savior. Baptism is an outward act to demonstrate an inward transformation after getting saved. Admit your sin, Believe Jesus Christ is LORD, Call upon the name of the LORD and be saved.

Baptism is a very special moment, in a believers walk with Jesus Christ. Baptism is a celebration of your journey of intimately drawing closer to your Lord and Savior.

What is the Gospel of Salvation?

The Apostle Paul tells us what the Gospel is. Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

ADMIT THAT YOU’RE A SINNER. This is where that godly sorrow leads to genuine repentance for sinning against the righteous God and there is a change of heart, we change our mind and God changes our hearts and regenerates us from the inside out.

BELIEVE IN YOUR HEART THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED FOR YOUR SINS, WAS BURIED,

AND THAT GOD RAISED JESUS FROM THE DEAD. Believe in your heart that Jesus Christ died for your sins, was buried, and that God raised Jesus from the dead. This is trusting with

all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was.

CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD. This is trusting with all of your heart that Jesus Christ is who he said he was. Every single person who ever lived since Adam will bend their knee and confess with their mouth that Jesus Christ is LORD, the Lord of lords and the King of kings.
