Baptism is the outward proclamation of the inward conversion. The ceremonial act after a person accepts Jesus Christ as LORD and Savior, is usually done as a public proclamation of the believer’s faith. In the Old Testament passage (Leviticus 16) explains the holy ceremonial cleansing before God in the Most Holy Place. In the New Testament scriptures (Luke 3), John the Baptist’s charge for preaching the “Baptism of Repentance for the Remission of Sins” as prophesied by Isaiah, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness: 'Prepare the way of the LORD; Make His paths straight.' foreshadows the cleansing from sin which is only through Jesus Christ. This importance of baptism as believers in Jesus Christ, we are baptized into His death (Romans 6) and raised to walk in the newness of life. The LORD taught the significance of baptism to the extent that He Himself was baptized by John the Baptist at the start of His ministry (Mark 1).
